I think you got the wrong end of the stick. We cannot combine the braai with the Scalabrini centre as the program we run at our studio is in direct opposition with their ideology. We do not do our braais for profit, in fact we don't do anything for profit and we usually do this without funding. The idea of a braai is to create a discursive environment and to get drunk at the same time. It's not meant to be an open party. Especially not for the Scalabrini Centre.
We will approach this event as we do with all others.
Best,
Ed

Hi Ed,Concerning your idea of a braai, I contacted the Scalabrini Centre. It would be a good idea to organise something between your space and theirs. They welcomed the proposition. You could share the budget of the braai and charge for food and drinks, hopefully making a profit out of it.
The person to contact at the Scalabrini Centre for that is Sylvie: xxx xxx xxxx.I'm Ccing the e-mail to Sylvie. Please keep me informed about it.RegardsJulienneJulienne LembProject managerVANSA

Studio 2666 Lecture Series. A Passage: Written On The Wind
Join us for an interaction with Professor Jean Mathee
Passeur: a person who helps to cross a river with a small boat and, by extension, a person who helps to go clandestinely through a border or a “no-trespassing” area. There is also the idea of passing something to someone. Daney explained the term in an interview when asked how he would define himself: “I like this small word: passeur. I remember a fantastic article by Jean-Louis Comolli about Eric Dolphy entitled 'the passeur'. (…) The passeurs are strange: they need borders but only to challenge them. They don't want to be alone with their treasures and at the same time, they don't really care about those to whom they pass something. And since 'feelings are always reciprocal', we don't really care about them either, we don't pass anything to them and we often empty their pockets”.
